PIA plane crashes in Model Colony Karachi


KARACHI: A Pakistan Internation Airlines (PIA) flight, on its way from Lahore to Karachi, crashed on Friday. 

According to the civil aviation Authority, flight from Lahore was going to land in Karachi when it crashed in the Jinnah garden area near the model colony malir. 

99 people were in the plane, including 85 passengers, of which 2 passengers miraculously survived. 


Govt response

According to the Sindh Health Department, 92 people have died by the accident. It isn't yet known what number of the deceased were passengers and what number of were occupants of the area where the accident occurred.

PM Imran Khan has guaranteed an "immediate inquiry" into the issue and said that he is in contact with PIA chief executive Arshad Malik. He said rexcue and relief efforts are the "need at this moment". 

Following the head's comments, Minister for Avionics Ghulam Sarwar Khan ordered a quick investigation into the plane accident. 

As indicated by App, the minister ordered the Aircraft accident investigation board to carry out investigation.

In the mean time, Governer Sindh Imran Ismail said that he has called the PIA chairman and instructed him "to give shelters to people" whose houses were damaged. 

"PIA will take full responsibilty and will provide hotel to them," he said. 


Ismail said that the chief has solicited PIA "to deal with affectees immediately".


Survivals

Bank of Punjab (BOP) Chief Zafar Masud has miraculously survived the accident. 

Masud has been taken to the hospital, where his brother is with him. He is supposed to be steady. He was visited by Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah. 


Another passenger was identified as Mohammad Zubair, visited by Sindh education Minister Saeed Ghani.


Senior journalist Ansar Naqvi, who was working for The News and was currently working for Channel 24 as its Director Programming, was on the plane.
The PIA has given a passenger list, according to which 51 men, 31 women and nine children were aboard the PK-8303 flight.
