"He that respects himself is safe from others; he wears a coat of mail that none can pierce"
-Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
When people respect you, it's easier to induce their support. Getting people to offer you continuous support, also requires you to use yourself. Here are ways to assist you create a bearing on people whom you would like respect and support from.
1. Be exuberant and addicted to what you are doing and your life.
People love those that exude vibrancy and keenness about their life, particularly about what they are doing. consider this: how stimulating does one find those who are forever talking about their "great ideas" and what they need to try to to and yet, never starting anything? Now that's a damper!
2. Be unique and individualistic in your views and opinions.
Are you unique and stand out together with your own style and personality? If you're afraid to voice your opinion, and would rather slot in, I can assure you that it'll be difficult to command respect from others. And without respect, no support. this does not mean that you just should constantly come up with new innovations. It simply implies that you simply don't suck up to people, simply because you wish validation. the most effective validation is to be faithful yourself.
3. Be a good listener. All great listeners are magnetic and charismatic.
There is no charm that equals that of an honest listener. Here is an experience I had in an exceedingly restaurant with my husband not too way back. I noticed that my husband was fascinated by a lady sitting some tables way from us.
When I asked him what got him so fascinated about her. He replied that the lady was just fascinating to look at, because she was listening so intently to her partner. Her eyes were on him, as she leaned forward, giving him her feedback, and at the identical time not interrupting him. While she let him know that she was hearing him, she also delayed her end of the conversation.
Then my husband said something remarkable: "She's the type of woman I normally wouldn't listen to on the road, but while sitting there, listening and being interested the way she's doing now, makes her attractive."
True listening embodies careful attention, patience and honestly desperate to understand what the opposite person is saying. It also fosters good relationship.
4. Be a life long student. Let people know that you're willing to find out from them and be genuine about it.
Learning is growing, and growing is learning. you can't learn all by yourself. to actually grow, you would like others along the way. And once you show people your willingness and enthusiasm to find out from them, you will be amazed how helpful and happy they'll be to support you.
Be open and obtain to understand those that are different from you. If you're curious about something, never be afraid to ask questions. you will not be ridiculed for showing real interest.
Do you know those who have stopped learning? does one find them interesting to possess around? Probably not! So do yourself the favour of becoming a fanatical learner.
5. Be authentic and reliable.
Before you create a promise, confirm you'll deliver. Keeping your word is incredibly crucial to assembling trust and credibility. There's nothing more detrimental to your image, than having people believing in you and letting them down.
There are times you will genuinely attempt to fulfil your promise and it just doesn't see. in this case, be honest about it and apologize. nobody will hold that against you.
6. Be generous.
A generous heart gives freely without having any expectactions. Don't attempt to buy people's loyalty or support. it'll backfire on you! you'll reap more benefit and reward from giving truly from your heart, instead of being calculating. whether or not you do not get something reciprocally, the eternal laws of reciprocity will find the simplest way to balance things out for you and provides you your dues.
7. Be direct and have boundaries.
When you have something to mention, just say it and let people know where you stand. Letting people know what you wish and do not want, liberates you and people around you. Don't allow people to steer everywhere you. allow them to know your boundaries.
For instance, to avoid lying a couple of proposition which can not interest you, an appropriate answer could be: "I'm sorry that does not work on behalf of me right now". this can be a simple and truthful answer making it easy for you and for others to maneuver on.
In conclusion, does one trust and respect yourself? If you do not, nobody else will. This especially means be faithful yourself and what you suspect in. even as Ralph Waldo Emerson said "Whatever games are played with us, we must play no games with ourselves".
